mission + ministry: an overseas apprenticeship
Crosslinks is an evangelical mission agency working largely within the Anglican Communion. In partnership with the church in Africa, Asia and Europe it provides personnel, sponsors students and makes grants for capital and other projects.
Smile is Crosslinks’ short-term programme for 18-30 year olds, and is focused on giving young people a taste of overseas mission. Recently we have added apprenticeships to the placements we offer, and as such we now have exciting opportunities for graduates to spend a year abroad, working within local churches and amongst local people. Using the 9:38 model, these placements are with evangelical churches, normally incorporating practical service, Word ministry and some formal training. They provide the opportunity to ‘test the water’ of going into paid ministry in the long-term and as a stepping-stone to more formal theological training.
Overseas apprenticeships will also give you the chance to be part of a new culture, meet new people and experience God’s work and His church in a different part of the world.
The people we want are mature, flexible, servant-hearted Christians with a passion to share the gospel. You should be a self-starter, self-disciplined, and enjoy working alongside others. Ideally you will have had some ministry experience, and are considering some kind of ministry at home or abroad in the future.
