Cheltenham Bible Festival

Come and see us at the Cheltenham Bible Festival!

Cheltenham Bible Festival is a new annual summertime event being launched next year with backing from a number of evangelical organisations including us. It looks like being an excellent event – with the main speaker being Don Carson, a great Bible preacher and teacher.

We’re going to be there and would love to see you!

  • A get together for current and past apprentices – prospective apprentices very welcome!

  • A seminar on ‘What is Gospel Ministry and is it for me?’ from a great Bible teacher.

  • A chance to volunteer and get free entry to the festival!

Workers for the Harest Field

New book! Workers for the Harvest Field out now!

The idea of a book distilling the heart of the 9:38 project, by presenting clearly and passionately the call to Gospel work and the varieties of opportunity available for people to serve, has been around for nearly as long as 9:38 has. When 9:38 was set up over ten years ago, some sort of resource that could be put into people’s hands was always on the agenda. And now finally, after many years and in partnership with the Good Book Company, we have published ‘Workers for the Harvest Field’.

It covers both the principles behind full-time gospel ministry and gives examples of many different types of gospel ministry. There are many great ministers and writers who have contributed a chapter to the book. Just to name a few: Vaughan Roberts, David Jackman, Richard Coekin, Roger Carswell, Carrie Sandom and Christopher Ash have all written about the sort of gospel work that they are involved in or some great Bible principle behind gospel work.

The ‘Administrator’

From September this year Matt Morgan, the 9:38 Administrator, has been working 4 days a week for us. Over the last two years, Matt has been working half time for 9:38, spending the other half of his week as an assistant to Vaughan Roberts of St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford. Matt said of this change of role, ‘I’m really exciting about spending more time on 9:38 projects. There is so much to do and there just hasn’t been the time in the past, but now we should be able to develop things a little further.’

Matt will be spending his other one day a week running the South Central Ministry Training Course (which is based at St Ebbe’s) and will still be working with Vaughan regularly (so won’t miss him too much!).
