MINISTRY ASSISTANTS AT ST LEONARD’S CHURCH EXETER
Website? www.StLeonardsExeter.org.uk
THE PARISH
We are a large conservative evangelical anglican church, located close to the centre of the city of Exeter. We have a wide range of activities and groups, including a thriving ministry amongst university students. Our central priority is to be faithful to the great commission that the Lord Jesus gave to his church – namely, to make disciples. We believe that the means that the Lord has given his church to do this is the proclamation of his Word.

THE POST
We are looking for two female graduates to be trained in gospel ministry and to teach the Bible to students, both in small groups and one-to-one. The training includes a day a week on the Peninsular Gospel Partnership training scheme, plus the chance to get involved in many different areas of the life of the church.
Our ministry assistants help to support the university Christian Union, through involvement in missions and other events. The post also involves a small amount of practical work, such as photocopying, cleaning and setting up for meetings (roughly 2-3 hours a week).
Our team of four ministry assistants are treated as full staff members, and so attend our weekly staff meeting. They are managed and supervised by our associate minister, and they are also given the support of a same-sex mentor within the church.
The post will be from September 2008 to August 2009. A second year may be possible.
THE PACKAGE
We will provide accommodation close to the church, and we will also pay all expenses and training costs. We ask ministry assistants to raise around £2500 towards their own living costs, and we will offer help and advice about how to do this.
THE PERSON
We are looking for people with a deep love for Jesus Christ, a clear commitment to biblical truth, and a strong desire both to grow and to serve. Some experience of leading bible studies will be helpful. We will give priority to people who are considering being involved in Christian ministry in the longer term, or who are at least open to the possibility.
