Duke Street, Richmond - Trainee Scheme
Website? www.dukestreetchurch.com
We are a diverse city church, which draws its people from a wide area of South
West London. We have a vision of building a community of believers who
are devoted to honouring God the Father, through the making and maturing
of disciples of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Firstly, we aim to fulfil this vision through the
Word of grace.
We believe that the Bible is God’s word written and that the gospel is
God’s power for salvation for all who believe, and so our preaching is
Bible based and Christ centred.
Second, we aim to fulfil our vision through deeds
of mercy.
Our Lord set us the example of cheerful and sacrificial service to others,
which we want to copy. Therefore we have ministries that are specifically
designed to serve the community (whether that be the homeless, young
mums or carers etc).
Third, we aim to fulfil our vision through networks
of relationships.
Living in a large city can be a lonely experience. Through our growing
network of small groups we are trying to provide an environment in which
the bible can be studied, where quality friendships can be developed
and where personal issues can be shared and resolved, all on firmly faithful
Christian foundations.
THE TRAINEE SCHEME
The Trainee Scheme is designed to help men and women who are seriously considering full-time paid gospel work but it will also be of great value to those who decide to serve God in other spheres. In addition, it will also help Trainees decide whether or not full-time paid Christian Ministry is the best way for them to serve in the long term.
The Scheme offers both a one-year and two year programme running from September to September. The two year programme is part of the Cornhill Ministry Scheme.
There should be a keenness to serve in whatever ways required by the on-going ministry of Duke Street Church, both in taking certain responsibilities and in fulfilling various tasks around the church.
By its very nature, the Scheme will require a high degree of flexibility in working hours.
THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
The scheme will be divided into 3 roughly equal parts:
Being taught the Bible (Training)
Teaching it to others (Ministry)
Assisting in practical tasks (Service)
WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE
Christian maturity evidenced by a desire to serve others and build up the body of Christ
An eagerness to learn
A willingness to serve
The ability to work as part of a team – both with the other Trainees, the rest of the Church Staff and the Congregation
