Christ Church
Christ Church is a Bible-based, Christ-centred church working with families and students. Its present form derives from a church plant that happened from StAG (formerly the Round Church) in 2004. There is a thriving Sunday Club (3-10 yrs) and a growing work with Pathfinders (11-14 yrs) and Grafted (14-18 yrs). We work with students from both Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin Universities.
We have a 10.30am Sunday morning service which aims to be family-friendly with a congregation of around 150 adults and 50 children. The evening service is an informal service, primarily attended by those in their 20s-30s, with a congregation of around 80.

9:38 Apprentice
We are looking for an apprentice to join us for one-year from 1 September 2008. This position is ideal for someone considering the possibility of a full-time Bible-teaching ministry in the future. The role would include:
Opportunities in word ministry. Our current apprentice is a Pathfinders leader which involves preparing and leading bible-studies and seminars. There may also be opportunities to read 1:1 with one or more individuals and to lead in Sunday services.
Training in Christian ministry. Apprentices attend the Training for East Anglia Ministry (TEAM) course which runs each Wednesday during school terms (10am-4pm). This course focuses on understanding and handling the Bible. There are four main elements:
Biblical theology: seeing how the Bible fits together.
Exposition: a deeper look at Bible books and hands-on training in how to teach different passages.
Doctrine: teaching on some central Christian doctrines.
Practical ministry: wisdom from experienced Christian ministers.
Apprentices will also be given practice in explaining the Bible to others in their ‘preaching group’.
Helping with practical and administrative tasks. Duties include running a morning crèche, preparing service sheets, answering telephone queries, preparing the building for Sunday services and other administrative tasks.
The primary aim of the apprentice must be to serve the local church. This will involve a willing flexibility in all sorts of tasks. We are looking for someone with a servant heart, prepared to commit themselves to Christ Church wholeheartedly and do whatever they can to forward the work of the gospel here.
The apprentice will be supervised by one of the staff team with weekly supervision meetings and an opportunity to read 1:1 with them.
Finances
In addition to a small salary to cover basic living expenses, all accommodation and work expenses are also covered. The apprentice will have holidays of 5 weeks per year and will also be encouraged to lead on a summer venture and attend the 9:38 Apprentices and East Anglia Gospel Partnership conferences (fees paid).
