All Saints', Eastbourne - Pastoral assistant

Website? www.aseb.co.uk

Number of placements: 3
Length of post (years): 1-2

About the church:
We are a conservative evangelical anglican church commited to following Jesus.  Over the last few years God has blessed us with many new opportunities and facilities that have enabled us to pioneer fresh expressions of church such as a monthly cafe church, weekly afternoon family service and toddler praise in addition to our regular ministry.  We are chaplains to the Eastbourne campus of Brighton University and Moira House School. Increasingly we are being used as a resourcing church, playing a significant role in events in the town such as Explore, UNITED and Youthquake.

About the area:
Eastbourne is a vibrant town of about 90.000 people on the south coast (sunshine coast).  It is easily accessible from Brighton (half an hour on the train) and London (1 hour on the train).  All Saints' Church is located in the picturesque Meads area at the foot of the South Downs.  Eastbourne plays host to Airbourne, the lady's tennis championship and the extreme sports weekend.

About the role:
The role is very varied and can be moulded to the gifts and abilities of the person.  It could include youth and children's work, work with the elderly, outreach events to people in the town, work with the homeless, music, schools work, technical work, bibles studies and many more things.

Core responsibilities:
Will depend on the gifts and strengths of the applicants.

Training offered:
You will go on the Sussex Coast Ministry Training Course (SCMTC) which is associated with the Cornhill Training Course.  You will also have the option of going on the bible centred youth workers conference or the 9:38 conference.  You will also be part of a home group and given a mentor.

Qualities of candidate:
The applicants should have a living relationship with Jesus Christ.  They should be willing to serve and learn, working with a large team as we seek to follow Christ in this community.

Financial arrangements:
We provide housing (normally with a couple from church), expenses and £150 per month pocket money.

Holiday arrangements:
You will get 5 weeks a year holiday.
